In the last few years eyebrows have come to take the mainstage in the beauty department. Eyebrows are one of the most defining parts of the face and they are one of the easiest ways to enhance your look. I have personally had very light and underwhelming eyebrows. It is a price you have to pay being a redhead. My mom has told me for the last decade I needed to fill my eyebrows in. Only about 4 years ago did I actually start taking her advice and made brows apart of my normal beauty routine. Now I have stepped up my game once again and taken these brows to an eyebrow architect Studio K Microblading.
It took me awhile to get around to microblading because there was a lot I didn’t know about it. I usually stay up to date in the beauty world but microblading was something I was not very educated on therefore I wasn’t sure it was for me. My perception was wrong on many aspects of microblading. Here I would like to share my misinterpretation of microblading and what I have learned.
1. Microblading Just like Tattooing your Eyebrows
Microblading is a semi permanent procedure. It last anywhere from 12-18 months. Therefore if you want a new style or color your hair your brows can be changed. The color and stokes are not taken as deep into the skin as it is done in tattooing. Unlike tattooing It does not use any electric machines to create strokes. You don’t have to worry about that nerve racking drilling noise when getting your eyebrows done. The process is very small needles that you can barely feel when the procedure is underway.
2. Microblading is only small strokes added to your brows
I did not realize before there are 2 different types of microblading. When I thought microblading the first image that came to my mind was the eyebrows with the added in hairlike strokes. Although this is exactly what some people need, I did not this this style would benefit my look so I was uninterested in getting my eyebrows done. If you are getting strokes only added to the area it is called microblading. The other option is a combination brow which is adding in the strokes and shading. A combination brow was more similar to the look I created daily when filling my eyebrows in with makeup. I did not realize microblading could eliminate this step of my beauty regiment and give me a similar but much more perfected look
3. Microbladed eyebrows all look the same
When I saw many girls on instagram who had their eyebrows microbladed I found many of their eyebrows to all look very similar. I gathered in my head that’s what microbladed eyebrows looked like and I didn’t think that look would suit me. Now I realize there are certain trendy shapes and styles of eyebrows that are very popular but there are many more options than the mainstream looks. Kalina spent a lot of our appointment getting my brows mapped perfect to my face and personal style. Microblading is not a one size fits all as, it can be very tailored to features and look.
4. Microblading gives your eyebrows an unnaturally sharp and dark look
Most of my information of microblading came from instagram influencers or before and after photos. When I would scroll I typically saw very sharp and dark eyebrows in the after photos.
Since I am so light skinned and headed I was very unsure if the look was for me. Now I have come to find out how the after photos are a very bold and stark representation of how the brow looks upon completion. Brows take about 2 weeks to heal. They look much more natural and effortless once they have healed.
5. It’s too hard to color match redheaded eyebrows
Being redheaded makes just about everything is a little different for you. I have seen very few redheaded brows done and from what I saw there were only a few I liked. I was most nervous about the color. One of the most important things is to find an artist that has high quality pigments and understands the color matching theory. Before I had even arrive Kalina had already spent time creating the perfect match for my coloring. I am very happy with my results in color. It is possible to match anyone’s coloring.
As you can see I had quite a few misconceptions about microblading which is why it took me so long to jump aboard the brow beauty bus. Studio K Microblading got me all straighten out and gave me better eyebrows that I could’ve imagine.
