If you’re reading this you’re probably slightly fascinated and very drawn to spiritual practices. Maybe you are one of the ones that watch Eat, Pray, Love on repeat drooling during the India scene. Or you find yourself constantly trying to integrate a new daily practice, like visualization, into your repertoire. Either way, you know the value of spiritual practices and you are always looking for more depth.
Well, this is one of the most expansive spiritual practices I have ever experienced – The Personal Brand. The journey of the personal brand is one of the most profound, engaging, and enlightening practices you will ever do. This isn’t one you dabble with for a week. This one requires full commitment. Here’s what you’ll learn and how you’ll transform along the way –
1. You have clarity on who you are
Personal branding requires you to get crystal freaking clear on who you are, what you do, what your message is, what you like, etc. This clarity does not just come out of thin air. It takes some deep inquiry to start to truly get to know yourself and where your place is in the online world. This isn’t something you need to meditate in a monastery to find but you do need to take some time for the soul searching to develop a personal brand.
2. You act in alignment with your values
Just as each spiritual philosophy and lineage have their own precepts, commandments, or doctrine – you have your own foundational values. These values will show up in every choice you make. There needs to be a congruence of alignment from the brands you work with, places you hang out, products you use, the ways you spend your time offline, etc.
3. You lead with purpose
A personal brand is like creating a leadership role for yourself. And you must show up for that role every day with purpose. It is similar to a vehicle on a road trip. The leadership role is the light blue Volkswagen Beetle and the purpose is the fuel that keeps it moving. There is a deeper reason that inspired you to get started on this journey. Maybe it’s to help girls with eating disorders. Maybe it’s to teach people how to live holistically. Whatever it is that creates passion and meaning is part of something bigger and it will keep you going when things get bumpy.

4. You are of service to your community
Your brand was not created to serve your ego. It is created to serve something much bigger than you. There is an impact you are making each time your post, teach or have an authentic conversation. You are nourishing your community with value and service each time you show up for them.
5. You bring intentionality into everything you do
Intentions are not just something that are set at the beginning of a yoga class or on Sunday night before the upcoming week. Intentions run through everything you post, create, write, and offer. Your message is very specific. Your socials are specific. Your programs are crafted very specifically. There is meaning and purpose behind it all.
6. You create soulful connections
Building your platform is one of the most rewarding things because you find your soul tribe. You don’t have to go to the next yoga training or wellness festival to find the people that “get you”. There is a whole community of soul sisters online to create authentic connections with. It is such a beautiful journey to mutually grow with and support them.
7. You are disciplined
As you know if you want depth in any spiritual practice it takes discipline. How long did it take you to train your mind to meditate for 15 mins? Or maybe you’re still working on that one. But you stay with it because you know the result is worth it. A personal brand requires that level of grit and discipline. You have to keep with it day after day and choice after choice. But you know that your message needs to be shared and the impact you have on this world is worth it.

8. You are always being tested
Each time you level up spiritually, personally, professionally, or academically there comes a test. Sometimes you’re expecting it and sometimes life serves you up a surprise on a silver platter. Building a personal brand can be confronting sometimes. Whether you are getting comfortable sharing your stories on video or you receive push back from something you posted online. You can handle it. Each time you are challenged you end up growing more than you imagined.
9. You are constantly evolving
Think back to the time you had your first spiritual awakening and reflect on where you are now. So much has shifted and changed. You probably feel that you are constantly evolving and coming home to yourself more and more. Your personal brand will always be evolving and growing as well. When you continue on this path you will continually learn more about entrepreneurship, digital marketing, and personal development. The personal brand is a journey, not a destination.
10. It brings deep fulfillment
The journey of your personal brand brings immeasurable fulfillment. From the heartfelt feedback on the impact, you make in your community or the transformation from shy and soft-spoken yoga teacher to total confident girl boss. You have learned so much about yourself and entrepreneurship. This journey continues to enrich your life and the ways you would have never imagined.
