When finally arriving back to my apartment after a long day of working and then scrambling to teach two yoga classes, seeing the big green box at my door gave me the angelic “ahhhhhhh” moment at my door (with the airy chime sounds in the background). Green Bean Delivery Service is the farmer’s market delivered at your door. Yes, that is right. All locally grown, fresh, organic foods delivered to your day. There is no further need to wake up early Saturday mornings to get the first picks of what strawberries look the most ripe or squeeze each apple to see what feels most crisp. Green Bean does all the early morning hustling and squeezing of each piece of produce for you before it even gets to you.
Green Bean’s website is filled with farmer produce, artisan snacks, organic meats, kombuchas, local baked good, etc. The foods found here are all from the local growers and makers truly living by the mission “think global, act local”. All of these goods can be shopped online or on their mobile app. Each week they offer a package of seasonal picks. This is a flat price of $20 or $35 in which you receive a whole list of what is popular locally that week. I really liked this option because it allows you to try something new maybe you wouldn’t have made the full commitment to purchase solely.
One feature I really love about the service is that you can create your order and you have until the day before delivery to add any last minute things you need to your order. So those moments when you are randomly waiting for your order at a coffee shop and you start to feel a little nervous like your forgetting something. Then it remembers its tortillas and you planned to make chicken tacos Friday night. You can add them to your order in just a few seconds right there from your mobile app. Another feature extremely helpful is an option to put certain items on a weekly repeat. This saves even more time you already know your family may need a carton of eggs, 3 bags of spinach, 5 bottles of kombucha, etc. All of your specific staples can be preset so you do not have to bother with adding them to your cart again and again.
It was such a relief this week to be able to find all the groceries I would purchase at the store online and have them at my door. When time is money, this service helps you direct more time and energy back to where you need it in your life.
One of my favorite things in my bin this week was the brussel sprouts. I have been making brussel spouts pretty regularly for about a week now. Sometimes people are turned off by brussel sprouts. They are a bit of an acquired test. Hopefully this recipe can turn your mind around if you were leery about them before.
